An Australian treasure, this lightweight tray was made in Melbourne by the now long-shuttered Phoenix Company, which produced high quality Art Deco and mid-century domestic tablewares from the ‘30s to the ‘60s. Examples are housed today in The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, recognising their cultural significance. This exhibit worthy footed piece from the ‘Imperial’ collection stands at 35.5cm long, 12cm wide and 14cm high to the top of its bakelite handle. It has a light patina consistent with age.
